Don't worry. Infinite Lives isn't dead. It's just recharging its batteries.
It can't die. It's infinite.
This is just a quick post to let you know that Infinite Lives is on break.
I’m currently overseas on a holiday. As I juggle this newsletter with running my business, I need a few weeks after I get back my break to stabilise my work before heading back into writing.
I’m aiming for my next edition to land on Thursday August 22 (AEST). This will also give me some time to actually play some new games. I can’t turn this publication into Final Fantasy daily! I realise I’ve been pumping it the past few weeks.
I’ll also be continuing to post and comment with other writers and content on Substack via Notes while I’m away.
It’s been an absolute joy talking to people and writing each week though on one of my favourite topics, highlight some interesting issues with it and draw in further interest for games media in general. Even just getting simple comments on like “I didn’t realise Hollow Knight was made by Australians” really put a smile on my face.
It’s also helping me engage with others in my industry (startups and tech) on a whole new level too. An unexpected surprise.
To give you, my early readers, an inside line on the publication, over the past few months of publishing, here are my most read stories in no particular order (by open rate):
Why the world’s eyes are on Team Cherry, a small Adelaide-based game developer (59% open rate)
Australia is defying gaming's digital-only future (64% open rate)
How superstitious in-game behaviour becomes habits (76% open rate, huge thank you to Aidan Barry for contributing this)
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail and debunking gaming’s most misunderstood genre. (67% open rate)
Wait now, don’t pay later: How consumers are being trained to not buy games at launch (67% open rate)
Can gaming impact your health? A balanced look at a vexing debate (58% open rate)
And while you are here, I wanted to ask: What do you think about Infinite Lives? What would you like to see more of if anything? What do you think about the reviews at the end of each piece?
Drop me a note in the comments, or email me at: infinite.lives [at] themediaaccelerator.com.au
Otherwise, catch you on Substack notes or posts. You’ll hear from me in your inbox again later in August.
Enjoy your much deserved break!!
Enjoy the holiday! I've heard they're popular...
