I am so bummed that Control: Resonant and SH Townfall are releasing on the same day. Two of my most hyped games of the year and they had to come out on the exact same date 😭

There's a world in which I'm almost glad I'm away from my PS5, as I can stagger all these games when I get back. But yeah, its crazy. Wonder if any will move their date now that all the cards are on the table?

It’s going to be an interesting few months! It is an odd one because not EVERYONE on earth is going to gun for GTA 6. Certain titles of certain genres could probably still release and gain good traction in some circles. It’s going to be a bit of a cattle market come October 😬

There's some Indies that have already come out and said they will take it on. https://www.gamesradar.com/games/grand-theft-auto/not-every-publisher-is-running-away-from-gta-6-and-making-september-a-nightmare-of-game-releases-devolver-digital-reminds-everyone/

But yeah, some of these games will absolutely lose out to this dynamic. Most will be banking on the other trend in game sales: The long-tail. Launch isn't everything anymore.

Ocarina going head-to-head with GTA VI does kind of feel like Super Bowl for gamers.

The total avoidance of November does strike me as odd, given that GTA is only releasing on the 19th, which still provides plenty of time for other games to launch and make an impact beforehand. And I'd be really interested to see studios reflecting back on this in a year's time as to whether contributing to the Sep/Oct logjam in order to avoid GTA was actually the right move or not.

This struck me as unusual too. If I had to guess: A lot of these games commence marketing and hype-building activity the month before, and nobody whats to funnel marketing spend within GTA blast-zone? That's my best guess, but we'll have to see what Nintendo does.

Not everyone will play GTA, just a lot of people.
