It is great to hear that they are already doing well. I have seen a trend recently of these more independent news sites appearing after so many games news sites have started being taken over by larger conglomerates, not usually for the better either. And I've really noticed the difference in style of writing when you're allowed to write what you want rather than what attracts people to view your ads.

I'm still a little on the fence about the subscription models being chosen. On the one hand they are good - no different than getting a print magazine subscription, and would provide stable revenue for the writers.

One downside I see though is that we've been conditioned for decades that all content on the internet is "free", so I wonder if that puts people off. Also, everything is a subscription service now, with so much content available, that it makes it hard for me at least to choose between them, customers can't maintain all of them.

I've always appreciated SkillUp's content, I know him from when he was theory-crafting and doing some really deep analysis on the first Division game. He's done similar content for other looter shooter games before moving on...and I'm glad to see him in this space!! He is a really smart guy!!
