I can sympathise a little with the lack of streaming options for someone like you, a traveller who wants convenience. However, I'll offer a counterargument for not including streaming from a parent's point of view.
The fact that the original Switch had a YouTube app was a real bone of contention for me. It meant that my kids would want to endlessly watch it, because it's designed to never let you leave - auto play the next video until the heat death of the universe. Combine that with them not wanting YouTube Kids (nothing they are interested in there), and setting up child accounts with Google, they would just use the guest option and have unfettered access to the entire pollution of the internet (you might be able to tell I'm not a fan of YouTube) It took a long time to wean my youngest off YouTube entirely because of the detrimental effect it was having on her.
So from that perspective, I quite like that it is only devoted to games and nothing else. Doesn't help you though I'm afraid 😁
Omg I totally agree! I was honestly shocked that the Switch 2 doesn't even run YouTube. Especially since the original Switch can, it would be amazing to have streaming services on the Switch 2, since its predecessors, such as the Wii U, were able to run YouTube and Netflix. It feels like an extra reward for a gaming console, especially a handheld, to run streaming services.
I used to think it was great that the Switch 2 wasn't polluted with streaming services until I experienced the joy of Gran Turismo with my own Spotify music and the ability to watch actual Formula 1 on PS5 on a Sunday if I so desire. I couldn't agree more.
I agreed with this too… then I started travelling for 4 months… logging in and out of TVs is so tedious. I never even thought about the streaming component for certain games.

I love this counter argument! Thanks for writing that out Peter, it’s a great point! Something I genuinely did not consider!
