I dream to going to one of these events one day! I did go to Australia once, and people were pretty nice, and I'm surprised of the amount of punks I saw (the fashion style). Bearers and The Last Werewolf sound so cool! Wish I could see Bearers, though, as it sounds pretty fun. And I'm surprised about the Steam Deck situation, has it always been like that with other products? I mean, the delay and the huge price difference.
PAX: Yes, I totally felt this way before it launched here. I saw all these awesome events overseas, and was like: They will never come to Australia, we're too small. But here we are. And we now support two of them: PAX and Dreamhack!
Indies: It was so hard to pick! Bearers is super super early build. Still a little clunky. But a solo dev taking on this genre is fascinating so I had to cover it. And The Last Werewolf is out now, first two chapters on Steam, last coming later.
Steam Deck: I'm due to do a post on this, but Steam's relations with Australia. We actually stomped out it's no refund policy in this market, as Australia has excellent consumer protection laws. The price difference is nothing new. We have a long history of paying more for things in Australia, but our average income is higher. Min wage here is around $22 AUD an hour.
I don't know about the cost of living in Australia, but that minimum wage is pretty high. I know that the minimum wage in Puerto Rico is increasing to $10 USD from $9 USD soon. So, I look at that 22 and I'm very surprised. Are the prices so high to make up for the high minimum? Sounds odd. I'm excited to read your post on Steam's relationship with Australia.
I'd imagine it would be hard in an expo so big! Bearers sounded so cool that I instantly wanted to see it in action. And I saw The Last Werewolf is out, and for a pretty good price, too. Will be getting it as soon as I can.
It's amazing Australia has two! I'll go to one, eventually. And I thought Australia was pretty big, but I only saw a small portion of it.
The only thing that filled me with more dread in Silent Hill 2 than the radio was that flashlight...
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Especially in the prison, it was USELESS. Talk about the most pathetic flashlight in gaming history.

I love that developers are using games to depict health conditions! Going to have a look at that one! Thanks for the writeup!
Me too! Bec's game was really unique and interesting in that regard. There's definitely more room to run in this space.
