Exclusive games aside, I think which side you fall on depends on what you want out of your gaming rig. Many PC gamers express themselves through their setup -- though I suppose you could argue that they are all RGB disco balls. If that isn't important, consoles just get you straight into the game.

In terms of game choices, there are a lot more indie choices on PC, but some people aren't interested in that.

I personally LOVE tinkering with setups and parts so I will always be team PC!

Great discussion though, Harrison and Alex!

I wish I had your courage! I opened up my PS5 for the first time to clean out the dust the other day... It genuinely game me anxiety.

One day I hope to invest in a rig and see what the fuss is all about!

Is Steam Deck a PC (Valve says it is) or a console (definitely looks and works like one)?

Yeah! I was mulling this. One of the reasons its so successful is that it bridges the divide. I'd get one, as its functionally like a console. But it operates and has the customisations of a PC.

Funny you mention this... another story I'm working on is on the grey import market for the Steam Deck here in Aus. It's not sold here, but retailers are importing them at a hefty profit. Stay tuned.

Funny, that every time I'm thinking that the only way to be safe and working is to move to a Paradise like Australia. And then I learn that it has its share of things I would have to say bye too :D

PCs have option to be a more valuable experience, but they are not inheritly better. Consoles allow for more people to geek out in the hobby we love but in a weaker package. The answer to your question is both. If something allows for more person to enjoy this hobby, we all win.

Hahah, this is a very friendly 'debate'. Discussion is likely a better word. Yeah, I can't help but think its both too. Different strokes for different folks. As a gamer and consoler lifer, if gaming PCs were a little more accessible, I'd consider getting one.

The point that Alex raised that was interesting for me, was that a lot of games are developed console-first and are therefore weaker or buggier on PC? That's something I didn't know. But consoles are so far behind PC on some many basic aspects of gaming, like co-op.

Well, games made for a console are made for a specific setup. Games made for PC must work on a lot of different setups.

A pro for pc is you dont have to pay for a multiplayer online subscription.
