Great article. It's inevitable that streaming games will be a main part of gaming, and I only see this happening when internet is faster and made more available to all.
This has as much to do with internet latency as it does with actual speed of connection. Even something as simple as a wi-fi over a wired connection can hamper experience with that. And there's new developments in that too.
Nice article, thanks! I use sub services, but I don't like what they represent. Interesting that publisher/developer cuts are still opaque (and I'm guessing that's because the platforms force them to not disclose that information).
I use them too. It leaves a vacuum for any publisher to come out and essentially say that they are getting screwed over by them, and gain a lot of attention doing so.
Commercials in gaming are historically hard to find. In my reading / research, most come from analysts who even then take a best guess on the financials. So, as per normal, we have bulk figures but no detail.
I'd love to see a breakdown of subs versus sales on Gamepass. Personally, I regard these as fire sales to undercut digital retail. It looks good in the short term, but in the long run it will undermine the relationship between consumers and developers.
I would too! If anyone will release that, it's Microsoft. They've been the most transparent about this historically. And even then, it's a stretch to say they are open on this topic. Plenty of unanswered questions, but they are likely set to remain that way until a developer speaks out.

Very true.
